Whether creating for personal daily wear, a memorable gift or to mark a significant celebration ... this is a space and opportunity for your creativity to unfold.
During this workshop we will discuss and explore design elements, utilise key silversmithing tools and learn various traditional techniques in the creation of your unique pieces.

Learn and practice the use of key silversmithing tools and various traditional techniques required in the creation of your design.
+ CREATE YOUR OWN PIECES
Delve into your creativity, be guided each step of the way and by completion of the workshop you will hold in your dirty but proud hands a unique pair of earrings designed and handcrafted by you.
OVERVIEW
To begin this workshop (approx 4 hours) we will view a range of design stimulus (bring your favorite images), explore and discuss jewellery, objects and materiality. During this time you will consider and discuss your concept, then plan and design your earrings. You will have a choice of metal, either Sterling Silver or Jewellers Brass.
Following this you will learn how to draw / scribe your design onto metal; fine hand sawing techniques and how to shape and form your metal.
We will explore several processes for applying textures to the surface of your metal, such as stamping and hammering. Look at how to join metal components; filing and sanding methods; and various finishing techniques such as brushing, oxidising and polishing to complete your piece.
